We presented the story It's Mine! by Leo Lionni. A story about three frogs who didn't want to share but learn to do so when faced with a challenging situation. They shared, took turns, cooperated and appreciated each other as good friends. It was a peaceful resolution to resolving conflicts that made life easier and meanigful for them.
Our unit of inquiry, SHARING THE PLANET is about finding peaceful solutions to resolving conflicts to improve the quality of life.
Thanksgiving is an American holiday, that is celebrated at the end of November. This year, the Grade Fives are focusing on the “Thanks” and “Giving” parts of Thanksgiving. In your child’s class, students have had a chance to think back on things they are thankful for.
To highlight the the “Giving” part of Thanksgiving, the Grade Five students have organized a collection of used clothing. Grade five students will be visiting classrooms during scheduled times to collect the old clothes. At the end of the school term we will send them off to The Salvation Army Singapore who will find new homes for the used clothes.
Please ensure that the clothes and toys you donate are clean and in good condition. The Salvation Army does not accept clothes and toys that are too worn out or generally in a poor condition.
If you have any questions, please direct them to the grade five team by email.
